Kaupapa Māori Aviation Hui

Josh Payne (CEO) was invited to the Ringa Hora Kaupapa Māori Aviation Hui as panelist alongside representatives from Air New Zealand and the RNZAF. Local Whareroa marae and mana whenua hosted this event which focused on addressing the workforce needs of the service sector while unlocking the potential of Māori in the aviation industry.

Māori make up 8% of the aviation workforce and have a strong heritage as navigators. While many currently excel in ground-focused and customer-facing roles, there is significant opportunity to expand into other areas. Josh and JNP staff, Mihiora Faulkner (TRG) Jayden Payne (NPL), Apiata Maaka (TRG), and Caleb Kapua-Priest (TRG) all participated in this Hui with Josh, and represented JNP Aviation and its aspirations to support Māori on their aviation journey.
